Repeat Prescriptions

If you have access to the internet and are comfortable using it then the easiest and safest way for you to order your repeat medication is via the link below, or your NHS account.

You can access this on a PC or via the NHS app on a tablet or mobile device.

Your usual medications are listed and you simply have to click the ones you need to order.

It also helps keep the amount of time it takes to rekey information into the system when we receive your request.

Other ways of ordering your medication

If you prefer to order using a paper form you can bring either of the following to the surgery.

  • The prescription slip from your last medication order. This will have been given to you by the pharmacy and will have your medications and dosages on it
  • If you don't have the prescription slip you write your request on the prescription request form available from reception

Completed requests should be posted in the designated prescription request box (during working hours). If the surgery is closed you can drop your request through the surgery letter box.

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it. Ask your pharmacy if they operate an SMS notification system to let you know when your medicines are ready to collect.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • On the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • At your GP practice
  • At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Surgery Dispensary at Hatfield Peverel

The dispensary at Hatfield Peverel is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am - 6.30pm

We are only allowed to dispense medicine to those patients who live more than one mile from a chemist.

Repeat prescriptions will be issued for patients on long-term treatment and regular medicine reviews are undertaken.

GP's are working to ensure that repeat medications are up dated without any non-essential delay. To ensure that we provide a safe and accessible service we are asking all patients to nominate a pharmacy. You can do this through your usual pharmacy, on NHS App or Online services.

We encourage all patients to order their own medicines. Ordering online is the easiest and safest way by the following methods:

  •  Via your SystmOne Online account (if you don't have an account please phone reception to set it up)
  • Download and use the NHS app. https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/the-nhs-app/
  • NHS Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) service – patient with stable, regular repeat medicines can receive batches of medication that can be dispensed once a month. Please speak to a member of the dispensary team or to your usual pharmacy to see if you are eligible for this.

Please allow three complete working days before collection. It is the patients/carers responsibility to make sure the medication is requested before current medication is due to run out to ensure there is enough medication to cover this period.

A dispenser at Hatfield Peverel will answer telephone queries daily between 09.00am and 10.00am and from 3pm and 4pm

It is our policy and that of the Government to issue one months supply of drugs at a time.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.

This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
