ADHD and ASD Referral Information

For ADHD and/or ASD referrals for Adults or Children, our surgery will only accept shared care arrangements with providers approved by Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB). A list of approved providers can be found here.

Shared Care is a voluntary agreement between the specialist provider, the GP and the patient where each has their own responsibilities. The Specialist is the overall responsible clinician, the GP can assist with monitoring the condition and providing prescriptions, and the patient must attend review appoitments and take medication as directed.

Essex ICB has commissioned some providers to support patient choice while ensuring services are:

  • Safe and clinically effective
  • Joined up with local NHS services
  • Aligned with Essex care pathways

Choosing a provider from this approved network helps ensure your care is coordinated, high quality and is supported locally.

Please review the list, select your preferred provider, and send us their details, preferably by our online form, so that we can proceed with your referral. Please note that it is your responsibility to complete and share with us any additional forms or documentation required by your chosen provider as part of the referral process.

If you choose a provider that is not on our ICB-approved list but is available through the Right to Choose (RTC) pathway, please be aware that we will not enter into a Shared Care agreement with that provider. In these circumstances, the provider will remain responsible for prescribing your medication and managing any medication-related queries or concerns.
